GET ORGANIZED!
Next to deciding on your budget, priorities and date/venue, this may just be the most important step (have I said that in every blog post in this series?? I guess they’re all important!). You wouldn’t go on a road trip to California without first mapping out your route, right? So how will you end up with the wedding of your dreams if you don’t visually map out your plans?!
It used to be that a bride would come in to our showroom with a big three-ringed binder filled with pages of photos from magazines, fabric swatches from her bridesmaids’ dresses, and a big 12-month planner tucked in her purse (wedding tote, really…the only other time you’ll have a bag this big is when you’re lugging around diapers, wipes and bottles of formula!). But these days, with everything available online and in the palms of our hands, getting organized has become much more streamlined!
Brides are now setting up Pinterest accounts and loading them with boards called “My Dream Wedding” or “My Dad’s Gonna Kill Me When He Sees How Much This is Gonna Cost Him!” (no, really…I’ve seen that one). In fact, many wedding planners and industry professionals won’t even meet with a prospective bride until she has set up her Pinterest account. It just takes so much of the guesswork out of aligning ourselves with the bride’s vision.
And besides Pinterest, the are loads of wedding planning apps out there, no matter which smartphone you use. USA Today did an article last May highlighting six of the top ones, according to ease of use, price and user reviews. If you’re interested in that list, click here. These apps are chock-full of wedding planning goodness–from to-do lists and timelines, to budgeting assistants and guest list trackers. Imagine that…no more wedding totes to lug around. All the information you need is literally right at your fingertips! (I would highly recommend syncing your phone at least once a week, though! God forbid you drop your phone in the toilet or something and lose all that precious data!)
But of course, if you’re still the kind of girl who prefers to put pen to paper, we recommend the brand new, all-in-one wedding planning organizer by Mindy Weiss, one of the top celebrity wedding and event planners in the industry!
So what are you waiting for?? Let’s get organized!

January 1, 2013
As is typical on any New Year day, people all over the world are saying, “How can I get more organized?” It seems like every resolution involves some type of organization tactics, whether it’s to form better (healthy) habits, finally tackle your household clutter, manage your time better or what have you. Here are a few of our favorite places that we look to for inspiration on getting it all together: Martha Stewart (of course…who could possibly be more organized than she?), Pinterest (for thousands of suggestions on household organization), the App Store (time management apps for macs, iphones, etc.).
Martha Stewart’s website offers tons of options for getting everything organized, from your pantry to your office to your garage (and more!). Most of her tips come with pictures, too, so you can feel insanely jealous of her perfectly beautiful organizing skills and get an instant sense of inadequacy. She even has an organizing tip of the day, which you can have delivered right to your inbox!

Pinterest comes with thousands of images, most linked to blogs, which will inspire you to build bookcases under stairs, label everything in your linen closet, and possibly go out and spend a fortune on baskets, bins and tags! But take it from someone who tackles at least one of these projects each year…it’s SO worth it! It feels so good to accomplish something that makes your daily routine easier!

And Apple’s App Store for Mac (or iPod, iPad, etc.), has lots of productivity apps to choose from, ranging in price from FREE to $299.99 (and possibly more). These are great tools for tracking to-do lists, managing your time, tackling big projects, setting alarms…you name it! Two apps worth checking out…Evernote and Don’t Break the Chain (habit-forming calendar). And if Apple isn’t the format you’ve chosen, there are plenty of great apps for other smartphones and desktops, too!

Whatever it is that you want to change this year, we wish you the best of luck! Making “change” is never an easy thing to do, but with persistence and a little help from our online friends you can make anything happen! Here’s to a wonderful (and productive) New Year!

December 12, 2012
Since so much of what we do on a daily basis revolves around event design, and since this is the time of year that we’re the most festive, we thought we’d marry the two and pull together some of our favorite Pinterest holiday images! These range from funky to fabulous, and some of them even incorporate pieces that we have in our inventory!
Take a look, below, and let us know…do you have a favorite?

December 4, 2012
Did you know?? December is the #1 month for engagements–NOT February, contrary to what many may believe. So here’s a little bit of trivia about these newly betrothed couples:
- 46% of newly engaged women purchase their first bridal magazine/set up their first Pinterest board within ONE WEEK of the engagement.
- 13% had bridal magazines LONG before they even had a boyfriend.
- 10% of GROOMS-to-be buy wedding magazines, too!
And just in case you didn’t realize just how important Pinterest is now:
- Pinterest is now the #1 social media platform for the wedding industry, followed by Twitter, forums (The Knot, Style Me Pretty, etc.) and LASTLY (!) Facebook!
- From 2010-2011, Facebook saw a 6% decrease in traffic generated by brides planning a wedding…and another 34% decrease by February, 2012!
- Most “with-it” wedding planners won’t even agree to meet with a prospective bride until she has set up her Pinterest boards….takes a lot of the guess-work out of determining her style.
- Similarly, many brides flock to Pinterest to do a little research on the vendors they’re considering…so you’d better get those boards up and running!
Okay, I guess that’s enough trivia for the day. So the moral of this story is to pin, pin, pin…and when choosing the right vendors for your big day, remember that Classical Tents has lots of boards to look through…and we’re right on top of the latest trends!

October 29, 2012
Lately, we’ve been all about the trends for the upcoming wedding season. And today will be no different! You see, when it comes to being aware of the latest wedding industry trends, not only is it our hobby…it’s our business! You can’t be in the rental business if you don’t always have an evolving, expanding inventory!
So today’s 2013 wedding trend alert is all about the color mint. It’s everywhere! Flowers, cakes, dresses, shoes, favors, table linens…brides just can’t get enough of this really cool hue. And judging by our scan through Pinterest, neither can anyone else! And the possibilities are endless! We especially like how people are pairing it with a vintage style (think vintage, mint VW vans?), using farm tables, crates, vintage fans and other cool props. And color pairings range from simple white to bold red (talk about a gorgeous, retro color combination!). Take a look at some of the images we found, below, and tell us what you think! Are you a mint girl? How will you incorporate this color trend into your event?
